"‘Wisdom Teeth’ is a plethora of double entendres in the form of a love letter to your past self, pre-transition, and a question of reality. It references the person I was before in Track 2, Babyface, ‘God, I don’t wanna let her down’, saying that I have to keep going even in my darkest times for the little girl I was raised as and experienced most of my 21 years as. She went through so much shit with no one to protect her and she’s gone now, I have to do it all to make her proud as she passed on the torch to me, I will do right by us both. It’s about the reintroduction to yourself once you’ve healed and grown, spending so long as an angry ball of confusion, living as someone else and given no help for my mental illnesses making your entire life fight or flight and once you’ve finally landed, you need to relearn who that person was underneath all that darkness. It also asks the questions, is this the start or the end of something. The end of the album? The end of the planet as we know it? The end of Artio as we know it? The end of society as we know it? The closing of one chapter to open the next one. The end of the life of one person to step into another, reborn. The child of rage and fire: Pyrokid, becomes the much wiser but still far too young to be so mature: Babyface. It also references learning lines and playing a part which is a direct tie in to Track 2 Babyface, ‘I played the part you said to be, you still forgot me’, saying I did everything society said I should do, everything doctors told me to, everything boyfriends and friends told me to do and I was STILL UNHAPPY. But now, it’s a taking up of the mantle, that I will do what Pyrokid could not, I will do her proud and I will take on the responsibility gifted to me by having an audience, a community of people who look to me now. I have grown, I have matured, I have healed and I am ready to be who I needed to see when I was a kid."
lyrics
I act like I know everything, but my wisdom teeth still coming in. A kid who just grew up too fast, or I never stood a fucking chance. I think that I am better now, god, I don’t wanna let her down. Is this the start of our demise? No, don’t tell me I like a surprise. Tell me are we having fun? The tragedy has just begun.
I’m nothing if I wanna stay, but you’d hate me if I go away. I don’t know who I am after healing, I don’t know who I am after healing.
Cuz I’m nothing if I wanna stay, but you’d hate me if I go away. I don’t know who I am after healing, I don’t know who I am after healing.
Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? I’ve learnt my lines, I’ll play my part.
Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? I’ve learnt my lines, I’ll play my part.
Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? I’ve learnt my lines, I’ll play my part.
Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? Is this the end or just the start? I’ve learnt my lines, I’ll play my part.
I act like I know everything, but my wisdom teeth still coming in.
